  • Project: Banbury Village Olympus Heritage Apartments

  • Location: West Footscray

  • Client: Cedar Woods

Project Description

The Olympus Heritage apartments are an adaptive re-use of existing 1930s era industrial heritage buildings as part of the wider Banbury Village redevelopment of the former Olympic Tyre and Rubber Company factory in West Footscray.

MGS transformed the former workshop, showroom and administration buildings into 55 apartments and townhouses while maintaining the significant industrial heritage of the buildings, an important part of the industrial and social history of Melbourne.

The design is intended to enrich the visitors’ experience through inclusion of a range of heritage interpretation strategies carefully integrated into the fabric of the buildings.

A comprehensive consultation process was central to the project, ensuring that a wide range of internal and external stakeholders have been involved in the production of the plan.
