  • Project: St Georges Road, Northcote

  • Location: Northcote

  • Client: Mitchell and Verlaan Pty Ltd

  • Date: Ongoing

Project Description

Derived from a massed ‘street wall’ which has been sculpted into a series of ‘totem-like’ columns on the facade the building will enjoy a dynamic presence on the street. The associated colour treatments dramatise the form and give the development a unique sense of identity and character by which residents and the community can identify.

The St Georges Road streetscape will be further activated with retail tenancies and a feature canopy which will be adorned with vibrant terracotta tiles to the underside. This canopy will both highlight and unify the primary residential entrance.

The five storey building will house twenty five apartments in a mix of one, two and three bedroom configurations over a single level basement carpark. Strategic setbacks in the form of habitable courtyards on both the northern and southern boundaries promote sunlight access to apartments and protect the private open space of the neighbouring properties.
